Hey there! I'm Jason Froehlich and I started this site to help motivate others to take control of their lives and reach their fitness goals. First off, a little bit about me:
My story begins in November of 2004. I had just come back from a year abroad after graduating from college during which I worked, traveled, and did two months of Israeli Army basic training...needless to say, I was in pretty great shape. I came back to the States and moved in with my college girlfriend--now wife--Jaime. Jaime and I made a great team for a many reasons, but one big one was that she was a fantastic cook and I loved to eat (for the record, both still hold true). At the time, I wasn't too concerned with what I was putting into my body, especially since I had just come back from a few months of rigorous physical training. So, as it went, she cooked...and I ate!
Shortly thereafter, I got a job in a law firm and started working in front of a computer 14 hours a day. I would come home exhausted, eat, and watch TV until I passed out. As you can guess, the pounds started to accumulate. In no time flat, I had gained over 20 lbs! I felt horrible, both physically and emotionally. I had to buy new pants as the old ones didn't fit anymore. I didn't like the way I looked. I was constantly tired and sluggish. It was a low point for me in many ways and, after a few years of not doing anything about it, I finally got fed up and decided I needed a change and needed it NOW.
So I started crash dieting (I know, I know...). I tried a bunch of different ones...ate only veggies...the Cabbage Soup Diet...the list goes on. I lost a few pounds but I wasn't getting the results I wanted and still didn't feel any better. I also started running when I had time and would go for up to five miles at a time--which, for out-of-shape-me, was a lot. It was a start, but something was definitely missing. I realized I wasn't getting toned, nor was I feeling too much better, and it was taking a toll on my knees as I wasn't eating the right foods to keep my muscles and joints strong. A bunch of attempts ending in failure marked the next year or two.
Fast forward to 2011. I had started going to the gym but I was spending a lot of time on the elliptical and treadmill and NOT seeing the results I wanted. I was still without much direction with regard to both my workout routine as well as my diet. It wasn't until one fateful night--and one rock solid infomercial--that things changed. P90X had me hooked from the start; those before and after pictures were insane! Of course, I was completely skeptical of something that looked way too good to be true...however, after talking to my friend who was already a month in and seeing results, I decided to take the plunge.
A difficult yet amazing 90 days later, my life was forever changed. The workouts were tough, but I dug deep and gave it all I had. By the end of the program, I had lost 20 lbs, gained muscle and definition, and gotten in the best shape of my life! I'd gone from frustrated and confused to feeling and looking better than ever and I was committed to staying that way. On top of that, I had developed a real passion for health and fitness. In fact, I couldn't stop talking about it! People that I hadn't seen in a few months would ask me what I did to get in shape and I was more than happy to tell them all about my transformation. And getting positive feedback from those people, telling me how they took my advice and were already feeling so much better, was a reward I had not even expected. When I learned, later, of the opportunity to become an Independent Beachbody Coach, it seemed like a natural progression for me. The rest, as they say, is history...
I look forward to continuing my personal fitness journey while paying it forward and helping others make their lives that much better.
Bringin' it daily,
Jason
