Your meal plan is a KEY FACTOR in your fitness success!
After all, they say "abs are made in the kitchen, not the
gym..."
When I made the decision to clean up my
eating habits, I didn't quite know where to begin. So I began researching
online, talking with people who knew a thing or two about nutrition, and using
my P90X nutrition guide to get me started. It was a bit daunting...not
going to lie. But I quickly learned that clean eating is completely doable as long as you take it slow, stay
organized (will explain later), and think of it not as a passing fad, but a new
lifestyle. It might be tough at first, but, ultimately, the benefits are
countless!
There are many things you should consider
in thinking about how to structure your diet, for example:
- What are your goals? Weight loss/gain? Building muscle?
- Are you eating the right foods?
- Are you eating too much/enough/frequently?
- Are you taking in the right amounts of macronutrients (protein/carbs/fats)?
There are many questions you will need to ask yourself to create a diet that helps your meet your goals...however, if you ask them one-by-one, and slowly, you will start to formulate your plan in a way that is understandable, not overwhelming, and even exciting.
Here is a sample meal plan; it is a good jumping off point for planning your week and focuses on eating ~five smaller meals a day instead of three large ones. It's not rigid by any stretch and can be altered based on your needs: time, availability of ingredients, leftovers, cravings, etc... I use it as a template for my week and constantly change it up to incorporate new and exciting clean-eating meals and ingredients!
